My Experience Here in Stradbally

I have only been in the school seven months but the months that I have been here have been loads of fun. We won the football and camogie. We went on our school tour to King Fisher. We had a Variety Show. We had four sketches that the senior classes did. The junior classes did the Wizard of Oz and the senior classes did the musical of Annie. The sixth class that are leaving are planting a tree.

My first day of school in Stradbally

I had butterflies in my stomach as we drove up the drive of the school. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know much about the school only that it was quite small. As I got out  of the car I could see some of the girls outside the gate waiting to come in. As we walked through the front door and into the hall we where greeted by Mr de Burca who showed us to our new classroom. We went into the classroom and met some of the girls in our class. They all welcomed us.We also went down to the church for mass and 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th where doing a play. After Mass we met Father Condon who welcomed us to the village.  Everyone has been very welcoming to us.  I have enjoyed going to this school. I will miss it next year when a I go to secondary.

Pentagonal Prism

Here are the instructions for making a pentagonal prism. You will need 2 pentagons and 10 rectangles. Start by placing a the shapes on a flat surface as in the picture below.
This is the "net" for a 3-D pentagonal prism
Complete by folding and putting the other pentagon at the other end. There are 5 sides on a pentagon. fold the flat shape to make a 3-D shape. It is called a pentagonal prism. If you like you can put more rectangles in the middle to make a longer shape.

Football blitz

On Monday last, our football coach David organised a mini football blitz in the football field. It was meant to be on on Friday but it was raining on Friday so we moved it to Monday and luckily enough it didn't rain for a while. We played two matches and then it started to rain on us so we had to go back to school to do work. The teams were mixed with boys and girls from different schools. There were many teams and they were all equal because there were seven or eight on each team. We enjoyed it a lot until it started to rain.

Official Opening in Stradbally

On the day we got off on our Easter holidays we had our school opening. Fr. Condon first blessed the school and the youngest student in the school and the oldest student that had been in the school cut the ribbon. There were two nuns that used to teach in the school when the school was first set up. Robert Power took the pictures. Martin Earley who was a former stage winner of the Tour of France was also there with his family. There was an inspector there too,who had been in our school a couple of weeks before. We had our science day on our opening day too. All of the parents of the children were invited to our open day and family and friends were invited.

The Wizard Of Oz

On Thursday June 16th we put on a concert in the Barron Hall. Our class did a scene from The Wizard of Oz. We were acting, singing and dancing. Dorothy finds herself in the land of Oz when a twister carries her house and drops it on the wicked witch of the East.
THE PARTS: Savannh was Dorothy, Beckie, Amy and Emily were the fairies. Kellsey was the mayor, Conor and Dara were coroner and officer. Patricia, Eva, Molly, Alice, Zoe, Mollykate, Niamh, Kaileigh, Hayley and Leah were the Lullaby League. Conor, Rian, Conor, Dara, Cormac, Conor and Donny were the Lollipop Guild. The witch was Orna.
This story is about a young girl called Dorothy. She meets the fairies and the munchkins and then she finds herself in trouble with the wicked witch. The fairies and the munchkins have an idea to send Dorothy to the Wizard of Oz. We did a dance called Ding Dong the witch is dead and Follow the Yellow Brick road. It was lots of fun even though I felt nervous at the beginning. Everybody enjoyed the concert.

A Bit Of Luck With The Internet!

The school always had internet but it was never ever that fast. First we had the satellite and we were getting our internet access from Dublin but it wasn't working properly and it was very frustrating. Then we moved over to the Vodafone stick but it was still quite slow as we were the furthest away from Clonmel ( That's where we were getting it from ) and by the time it got to the school it was very weak. A few of the girls in the class were recommending the 3connect Broadband stick but then the teacher called a man and he worked with a company in New York! We all went on the internet and it was really fast! We all thought it was brilliant!! The teachers are delighted too! Now the pupils can go and play games and even some can talk to their penpals in Poland!!! Hopefully the internet stays and there wont be any problems again!

Stradbally Variety Show 2011

On the 16th of June we had our Variety Show in the Barron Hall. Lots of people attended. To start it off Mr. de Burca said a few words and then Rebekah came out and introduced Backstage Bedlam. All 6th class and Louise and Emily were in the sketch. Backstage Bedlam is about 7 people who are expressing different emotions before they go on stage. After that Anna came out and introduced Louder by Roger Mc Gough. Third and fourth class, Sarah, Kate and Anna were all in that. That was about teachers and pupils having an argument. After that Kayleigh came out and introduced Maggie and Mollie. Taylor and Abby were in that. Maggie and Mollie is about two old ladies taking about an experience one of them had in the bank. Then all the people that are in the older classes went through the audience and got changed into there orphan clothes for Annie. While we were getting changed the 1st Babies, 2nd Babies, First Class and 2nd Class performed an extract from the musical The Wizard Of Oz. Áine and Clodaigh introduced that. After The Wizard Of Oz we had our interval and the Parents Association went to sell some raffle tickets. After the interval the older classes performed an extract from the musical Annie. After that, we had our raffle. There were lots of prizes. After that, on behalf of the Parents Association and the pupils at the school, Gaye, Bernie Louise and Chloe presented Aileen and Lisa with a bouquet of flowers. It was a lovely show and the turn out was fantastic. A special thanks to the Parents Association, the people who let us use the Barron Hall, the audience for turning up and last but not least a big thank you to Aileen Hogan and Lisa Meany.

3-d Cat

3-dimensional cat created using magnetic shapes
My cat has got no name,
We simply call him cat;
He doesn't seem to blame
Anyone for that.

For he is not like us
Who often, I'm afraid,
Kick up quite a fuss
If our names are mislaid.

As if, without a name,
We'd be no longer there
But like a tiny flame
Vanish in bright air.

My pet, he doesn't care
About such things as that:
Black buzz and golden stare
Require no name but Cat.
